After the fantastic 2012 season for the juniors we can’t start the news for 2013 without, once again, a massive thanks to Dave Smith our "retiring" Junior Organiser. Our promotion to Division 2 is something Dave, along with all the boys who represented the club, can be very proud of.
We can also reflect on a great 2012 Junior Dinner and Presentation night. A full clubhouse, the support of our President, Vice Presidents, Club Captains & Vice Captains and a warm welcome for juniors, Mums & Dads, Grandparent and Sisters & Brothers alike shows the club knows the value of a thriving junior section. More thanks need to be heaped on our Club Pro Chris and Julia Hall for the work they put in to making the night such a success.
So lets have a first look forward to this season. As most know Declan Marks is our Junior Captain this year and he will be relying on his fellow Juniors to support him throughout the year.
The first part of the plan is to hold some junior coaching, with Chris, from March onwards. These sessions will be aimed at preparing players for a fast start to the season. We will be providing full details very soon.
We also look forward to the very popular and highly successful Thursday night coaching - starting as soon as the lighter nights permit. Again we will post dates and times here soon.
All the Competitions and League Matches are now on the web-site diary and will appear in the printed fixture card. Please look these up as soon as possible and let Mum and Dad know the family cant go on holiday when there are junior competitions or matches!! More seriously we hope having these dates will help you plan your season.
We get things started with a Junior Stapleford in February. You will also see we have one Junior Competition on a Sunday this year. All the other competitions continue to be on Friday mornings in school holiday weeks. Playing competitively will add to the fun you have from your golf, so we will be looking to add an 11 hole competition to the usual full round option. We hope this will encourage our more Junior Juniors to get on the course and play the shortened course.
Right enough for now, more soon.
