Can it only be April .... so much to report on .............
Thanks to the support of the 89 Club members and the commitment of our Club Professional the Junior Coaching programme has provided the equivalent of 75 lessons through March & April. We have seen a great mix of our experienced players and those just starting out as Junior members. The programme will continue over the coming weeks so whether you have been to all the coaching so far or are still to join the programme we look forward to seeing all our Juniors on Sunday 27th April at 2.00pm
Competitions - Two down plenty to go
41 Points in the GrenJon Trophy was a great score and good enough to bring Will Collington the first silver ware of the 2014 season. Not to be out done Cameron Gray, with a nett 67 took the honours in the Minster Cup. Come on everyone else ..... can you rise to the challenge of being one of our competition winners this year? Neither win was easy, with Harry Danzey and Tom Waterfield taking the runners up slots.
A big "well done" to Ben Danzey, Dan Butler, Jacob Bates, Ben Gill, George Henfrey and Alex Arnold for playing in these competitions. We want more of our younger & less experienced Juniors to join us on competition days - so if you are reading this wondering if you should play in the competitions, then please follow the lead of these guys and lets see you at the competition in the next half term break - Remember our competitions are at 9am on every Friday of the Nottinghamshire school holidays.
For everyone who is eligible by virtue of having a handicap of 28 or below, lets see if you can replicate your form in the main club medals and stablefords. Please get entered in these competitions too.
This season sees a new format for the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs Junior League set up. We are in the East league, in a format that will see the winners of the four area leagues compete in a Junior Finals day in October. The campaign begins on May 4th at the Cliffe versus the Wollaton Park Golf Club.
Thursday's as popular as ever.
Great to see so many younger players at the first two sessions. These are key to the future of our Junior group and a great way to start in golf. No doubt as the summer evenings start to come around these sessions will go from strength to strength.
Support for our Juniors
We have already referred to the fantastic support from the 89 Club members in funding our Junior Coaching programme. The Junior Captain and all the members would also like to acknowledge the support of Jamie Lynch and Dot Promotional Clothing for their sponsorship of this years team shirts. Similarly, DP Anderson Decorators continue their long term and much appreciated support for the Earl Howe Order of Merit.
Enough for now - look out for a further update next month.
