The final full month of the school holidays proved as busy as expected, so here we go for a quick round up ....
Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs Junior League
This months only match saw local rivals The Ruddington Grange Golf Club visit the Cliffe. In a contest that proved as closely contested as expected, the 3 - 3 halved game did neither club any great favours in their attempts to make their way into the battle for promotion. With two matches to go every point available in both games will now be vital.
The August honors go to :-
Simeon Hopewell Memorial Trophy - Winner : Will Collington, Runner Up : Joshua Hogg
Farmers Cup - Winner : Ben Danzey, Runner Up : Kegan Brewin
Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs Boys County Championship
In this years premier county event the Cliffs Captain Declan Marks made an excellent showing to finish comfortably inside the top 20. Rounds of 83 & 76 qualified Dec for the top 16 County Match Play Championship and will hopefully encourage those of our players, with handicaps heading down fast, to target the major county events next season.
Rushcliffe Junior Outing to The Seacroft Golf Club
We hope a great day was had by all. Firstly Congratulations to Tom Waterfield for successfully defending his individual title and to all the prize winners in both the individual and team event. The Junior Captains' thanks go to all those who supported the event, particularly the Club Secretary, Roger Poole, Alex Innes and Martin Trueman who have no family member connection to the Cliffe Juniors but still supported the event. Special thanks, again, to the Club Professional for organising the event, arranging the teams and presenting the prizes - as well as arranging great weather on the day!
The Rushcliffe Junior Classic
Our Open is praised by everyone who visits & plays and we continue to work to increase the appeal of the event. As we would hope our Juniors continue to dominate the prizes. Well done to all the prize winners including the Captain for his Gross victory and to the overall winner Joshua Hogg, who's 72 less 12 for a net 60 was one of the lowest scores in the events history.
The Rushcliffe Junior Club Championship
A true test of skill and stamina the event is contested over the full 72 hole championship format, with one major difference from the Pro ranks - its over 2 days instead of 4! More success for the captain with his Gross victory and not to be out done Ewan Marks took the runner up spot. This Years Club Champion is Harry Danzey with net scores of 67, 65, 69 & 72 for a championship total of 273.
The Lord Howe Order of Merit, sponsored by DP Anderson Decorators
The points earned though August take us into the final qualifying event of this years order of merit with the top three in the current standings still in contention for the 2013 title.
