Welcome to the update for June.
Lots to report as the playing season gets into full swing for League matches, competitions at the Cliffe, Golf Week & the Knocks Outs.
Since the last update the team has visited The Radcliffe on Trent Golf Club for their latest match. Having gone unbeaten in their first three games we again saw how each player knows the value of a single point in these games - but how difficult it is to achieve success in away fixtures. With four of the six games going to the final green to be decided, the home team ran out 4 - 2 winners. Despite their first defeat, the team remains well placed in their league. We will welcome the team from The Nottinghamshire Golf Club at Cotgrave to the Cliffe for our next fixture on Sunday July 14th.
On a perfect afternoon for golf, the prestigious Nairn Cup was up for grabs in the latest Competition. Congratulations to the winner, Ewan Marks for both his victory and for an outstanding round of 77 from a handicap of 14. Its clear our established players wont be having it all their own way through the season with runner up Tom Waterfield and 3rd placed Cameron Gray showing they will be ones to watch in future events.

Harry Danzey remains out front in the race for golfer of the year but the chasing pack have closed to within a single win - less than a thousand points covers the first four players and there are plenty of opportunities for success through the summers events.
The Club Championship remains the most important event in the entire calendar and it was great to see the Brewin brothers show their potential to be dominant forces at our club in future years. Both qualified for the Presidents Cup Knock Out by making the top 16 players in the Championship and we wish them all the best in progressing beyond the first round. The requirement to achieve a handicap of 11 or below to be able to enter the Club Championship should be a great motivator to all our players - come on all our Juniors, who's going to be joining Kegan and Henry for the 2014 event?
Its a repeating message, but we really want to see as many Juniors as possible playing as much as possible. The approaching Summer holidays should be a fantastic opportunity to practise and play, so improving your game and enjoying our challanging course. If you are a Junior reading this please come and join the fun & if you are a Parent or Grandparent please encourage as much as you can.
Thats it for now, July is another busy month for Juniors at the Cliffe - full details in the next update.
