Opening to 2014

Another exciting season just around the corner

We start the preparation for the competitive season early again this year. Thanks to the great support from the RGC 89 Club members we have been able to extend the planned coaching programme to include more skills developed opportunities for every member. For the first time a targeted range of smaller group sessions has been added to the coaching calendar. These new opportunities to benefit from all the experience and coaching knowledge of Chris Hall means that Rushcliffe Juniors will have a chance to work on their individual needs before the competitive season begins. The Programme is already underway and open to every member.

A great year to our new Junior Captain, Joshua Hogg and to his Vice Captain Tom Waterfield. Their leadership for the section will no doubt be helped by our immediate past captain, Declan Marks, still being a junior for one more year.

Club competitions are already scheduled into the Club diary and we will again try to use the February school half term to kick off the season. Every Junior member, young or “old”, with a handicap or without and new to the Junior set-up or a regular face is welcome to join the season starter get together on February 21st.

The County have revised the format for inter-club matches we will therefore be faced with a new challenge this year. Smaller leagues, of five teams will compete for the chance to progress to the County junior semi- finals and then a final to decide the County Champion club for the year. Our league is made up of teams from Beeston Fields, Wollaton Park, Chilwell Manor and Trent Lock. This year will see us play twice at home, against Wollaton Park and Trent Lock, combined with three away matches – the toughest route possible to the finals - but a challenge we know you will rise to.

Some things that wont change will be our efforts to see the juniors enjoy their golf, be the best they can be through the great coaching support they get from our team of professionals & volunteers and a focus on encouragement to play and participate competitively as much as possible.

If you are reading this update as a junior or a parent / grandparent please take a look at the rest of the junior section of the site or the junior notice board to see all our plans and the competitions dates for 2014.
